The many types of audio products on the market are generally the lowest energy consumers in the electronics category. For these, the Energy Star® criterion is one watt maximum for standby power. Non-Energy Star® products are up-to-seven watts on standby power. Because of the high market saturation levels, it is important audio products are considered when determining energy savings. These include items such as cassette decks, CD/DVD players/changers, clock radios, equalizers, laser disc players, mini and midi systems, mini disc players, powered speakers, stereo preamplifiers and combined preamplifier/power amplifier units, stereo receivers, tuners and table radios.
