Buying wind power
Buying Alberta Wind Power
With mounting interest in ways Albertans can "go green", wind power is once again making the news. What is wind power and how can you, the consumer, consider it as an energy option?
You can make wind power happen in two ways. The first involves installing a small wind turbine on your property, and that requires a considerable amount of space. The second is buying wind power certificates from selected retailers. So, if buying is the best choice for you, we have outlined some of the current offerings below:
Alberta Energy Savings L.P. (AES)
AES offers new fixed-priced electricity with the option of complementing consumers' electricity plans with green energy. AES will ensure the volume of green electricity you have selected is provided to Alberta’s electricity grid.
Bullfrog Power
Bullfrog Power offers 100 per cent EcologoM certified wind power generated from Alberta wind farms. Here's how it works. You will continue to receive and pay for your electricity supply from your current energy provider. Then, on your behalf, Bullfrog Power will provide the same amount of your home’s electricity consumption to Alberta’s electricity grid. This will add 2¢ per kilowatt-hour (/kWh) to your electricity costs.ENMAX
ENMAX Energy Corporation offers EasyMax™ customers the option to redeem EasyMax Rewards™ dollars toward Greenmax. For the Rewards dollars, ENMAX Energy will ensure 5000 kilowatt-hours (kWhs) per year of renewable energy is secured on your behalf from an EcoLogoM certified facility in Alberta.
