Funding Sources and Incentive Programs
Natural Resources Canada/Office of Energy EfficiencyNatural Resources Canada (NRCan), under their ecoAction initiative, has rebates available for homes through the Office of Energy Efficiency’s ecoEnergy retrofit program with grants up to $5,000 per household. In addition, NRCan has made available a home renovation tax credit up-to-$1,350 that can be used for energy efficiency upgrades.
Climate Change Central (C3)
C3 has available grants up to $10,000 for energy efficient new homes and grants for energy audits and many other energy efficient improvements for your home.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
CMHC offers lenders mortgage loan insurance that allows you to buy a house with as little as five per cent down. If you use CMHC insured financing to buy an energy-efficient home, purchase a house and make energy-saving renovations, or renovate your existing home to make it more energy efficient, a 10 per cent refund on the mortgage loan insurance premium may be available. City of Edmonton Residents
A $2,000 rebate towards the purchase of a qualified Energy Star® high efficiency furnace may be available to low income City of Edmonton residents who are participants of the Government of Canada’s Residential Rehabilitation Assistance program. Visit the City of Edmonton’s CO2RE for more details.
Alberta Government Furnace/Boiler Rebate
All Albertans who purchase and install a qualifying replacement furnace/boiler on or after January 1, 2009 are eligible for a provincial rebate. Visit Climate Change Central for information on the Furnace/Boiler rebates.

City of Calgary Rebates for Green Homes

City of Lethbridge SunRidge Built Green™ Homeowner Rebate
The City of Lethbridge is offering SunRidge development home buyers a rebate to improve their new homes' energy efficiency. More information can be found at the SunRidge Community website.
